POLITICAL MURDERS
POLES AMAZED AT MR BEVIN'S ATTACK LONDON, January 25. The Polish delegates to the United Nations Organisation and representatives of the Polish Peasant, Socialist, and Workers' Parties, have each issued a statement protesting against ..the Foreign' Secretary, Mr Bevin's, comments in the House olf, Commons on Wednesday regarding the number of political murders committed in Poland. The Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, 3VL Modzelewski, said that he was amazed that Poland had been attacked in the House of, Commons and not defended by anybody. While the Polish Delegation was the guest of the United Nations and the British Government, such discussions would not .help to foster good relations between Britain and Poland. Acts of political violence in Poland were committed on instigation from abroad. He cited the case of the arrest of 16 Polish officers connected with General Anders. He added that in three months alone. 900 members of the Polish Workers' Party and 250 members of the Socialist Party had been killed by their political opponents. There were two problems which, from the Polish point of view, were essential for the good df BritishPolish relations. First was the question of the Polish Army abroad, and second was the necessity for the settlement of the financial question.
