JEWISH PROTEST
ANGLO-AMERICAN INQUIRY BREACH OF OBLIGATIONS ALLEGED LONDON, January 24. A Jewish protest against the terms of reference of the Anglo-American . Committee of Inquiry on Palestine will be brought before the United Nations, said the general secretary of the NewZionist Organisation, Mr Samiiel Eatz. "The circumstances of the appointment of the committee make clear that it is designed as a means of non-fulfil-ment of the mandate. Its terms off reference are an explicit breach of the obligations of His Majesty's Government in the Balfour Declaration. Its terms imply that the Jewish question . is purely one of humanitarian import, affecting only the distressed Jews of Europe. This assumption is a grave distortion of the right of the Jewish people as a whole to be restored to nationhood in their historic homeland. " The Committee, in the circumstances, ' must be regarded as an attempt by His Majesty's Government to place ultimately before the United Nations a distorted and unjust picture both of the Jewish problem, and of the / manner in which it is fulfilling its obligations in Palestine. The New Zionist Organ : sation must express regret that the United States Government has. lent, its co-operation to this step." The New Zionist Organisation in London and the Arab spokesman in Britain have decided not to give evidence before the committee, which is holding its first meeting in London tomorrow. Both are reserving their views until the commission visits Palestine.
