NEED FOR BETTER LIVING STANDARDS (Rec. noon.) LONDON, Jan. 25. The Social and Humanitarian Committee of U.N.O. approved for submission to the Assembly a report recommending the establishment of a commission on human rights, a temporary social commission, a narcotic drugs commission, and a demographic commission. The Legal Committee of. U.N.O. decided to adopt Ecuador's proposal that the equitable adjustment of prices on the international market should be the subject of a conference to be called by the Economic and Social Council. M. Parro Velasco (Ecuador) claimed that the Charter's preamble relating to social progress and better living standard" could be observed only by raising standards all over the world, especially in low-wage countries producing raw materials. Ecuador's object was to have the subject specially recommended to the council.
