FORBURY PARK

SECOND DAY PROSPECTS EXCELLENT CARD.ASSURED IMPROVING YOUNG PACERS The promise of good wether and a firm track at Forbury Park to-morrow points to a va:y interesting day's racing, . and as the fields include several rapidly-improving young pacers, it is quite on the cards that some of the existing time records for the course may be broken. The records for distances that will be raced over to-morrow are held by:— Eleven furlongs: Safety Pin, 2.56 3-5. Mile and a-half: Fremont and Quest, 3.14 1-5. Thirteen furlongs: Self, 3.34 3-5. Two miles: Parisienne, 4.15 3-5. The rain which has fallen during the week has done the track no harm, the strong wind drying up the moisture almost as quickly as it fell, and if the present fine weatheT continues the going will be fast. The public will have last Saturday's racing to guide them towards winners, but the firmer going may upset that form, especially in the first half of the ' programme. , The following are the fields and anticipations:— 11.30 WAVERLEY HANDICAP, £250. Class 4.43 (trotters), ljm, Arion Bingen scr Voco Power 24 Jack Daly ... scr Contraband 48 Mack Sure ... scr Kathleen's Percy Volo ... scr Voyage ... 48 ' Sure Maid ... scr Mistydale ... 60 Tell Us scr Maximum ... 72 • Tolerate ... scr Zona Grattan 96 Glamour Girl 24 Jack Daly and Tolerate, Percy Volo and Mistydale, and Voco Power and Kathleen's Voyage will be bracketed on the totalisator. . Kathleen's Voyage won so easily last Saturday that her chance cannot be overlooked, but she was favoured with the sticky going, which she handled well. Mistydale lost some ground through skipping, and on the firmer going promised to-morrow, and with her stable mate, Percy Volo, who will be making his first appearance, will be the likely favourite. ,If Tell Us begins correctly she showed sufficient pace last Saturday to be dangerous. 12.15 STEWARDS' HANDICAP, £350. Class 3.33. Hm. Admiral Scott scr Radiant Scott scr Calumet Stirling Queen ... scr Castle ... scr Frae Dunoon scr Hanover ..., 12 Great Show scr Quite Worthy 12 Jolly Biddy ... scr Stimulant :,. 12 Loyal Chum scr Tom Gundy 12 Lucky Meg ... scr Doonholme 36 Frae Dunoon and Doonholme will op bracketed. Quite Worthy ran her best race for some time when she finished second to. Paddy Potts, and the'race should do her good. Doonholme was ■unlucky in breaking when .in a win- , ning position, and will again have th'» service of J. Walsh. There will be strong support for Stirling Castle, who will be having his first start at tho meeting, and if he can repeat the form he showed at Gore in the spring he should prove the best of those on the limit. Tom Gundy finished close up fourth last Saturday, and the firmer going should improve his chance. 1.0 HANDICAP, £450. Class 4.41. 2m. Hargood's Windermere 12 Pride ... scr Dinghy ... 24 Logan Rey ... scr. Gamble King 24 Convincer ... 12 Grelba ... 24 Volo's Victory 12 Logan Rey and Grelba and Windermere and Dinghy will be bracketed The former bracket is the likely popular selection. There were about four lengths between Gamble King and Convincer in last week's race, and now the latter comes in on 12yds better terms. In the small field Convincer's chance is preferred. 1.45. . METROPOLITAN HANDICAP, £7OO. Class 4.36. 2m. Absolutely ...-scr Fancy Goods 24 Jeeves scr .Technique ... 24 Margaret Hall scr Elvo's Pride 36 Water Ranger scr Will Cary Ingle Belmer 12 (T.) ... 36 Vimy Ridge 12 Dillondale ... 48 Princess Liberty Bond 60 Maritza ... 24 Margaret Hall and Liberty Bond; who has gone back 36yds, will be bracketed. Water Ranger, who meets Liberty Bond on 36yds and Dillondale on 48yds better terms, is the best handicapped horse in the race, but the true form of either Vimy Ridge or Ingle Belmer was not seen last Saturday, and, with better going to suit them, they will probably be made the favourites! Elvo's Pride, if improved by last week's race, should finish in the money again. 2.30 CRESCENT HANDICAP, £425. Class 3.36 (trotters), Hm. Kango scr Special Bond 12 Logan'Max scr Zona Grattan 12 .Maximum ... scr Desmond's Mistydale ... scr Pride ... 36 Quarter- Gold Weed 36 master ... scr Lee Berry ... 36 Loughros ... 12 Frank Scott 48 There will be many' regrets from lovers of straight-out trotters that Kildonnin is not in this field, and in his absence the placed horses in last Saturday's race, Loughros, who has gone back 12yds Special Bond and Zona Grattan will besirpported. Loughros made a slow beginning but finished. very strongly and should again prove the best of the trio. 3.15 GORE MEMORIAL HANDICAP. £350. Class 3.52. lm sf. Gambler's Janet Hall ... 12 Fortune ... scr Quite Worthy 12 Grattan Drive scr Stimulant ... 12 Jolly Biddy scr Tom Gundy 12 Lucky Meg ... scr Doonholme 36 Stirling Castle scr Czardas ... 60 Hanover ... - 12 Last week's winner, Czardas, has gone back'4Byds, but he won so well that he will probably start favourite again. Janet Hall was. very unlucky

in this race, meeting with interference about two furlongs from home just when she appeared to hold a winning chance. She looks to be the hardest to beat, and of the others Lucky Meg appeals most.

ROYAL HANDICAP, £4OO. Class 3.8. lm 3f. Bien Sur ... scr Will Cary Doonholme scr (T.) scr Elaine Air Marshal 12 Travis ... scr Bonnie AxHargood's worth ... ['2 Pride ... scr Dinghy 12 Logan Rey >scr Grelba 12 Pocket Book scr Jill 12 Volo's Vic- Lucky Gem 12 [ tory scr Gamble King 12 Windermere scr Bien Sur and Air Marshal, Logan .Rey and Grelba, Pocket Book and Gamble. King, and Windermere and Dinghy will be bracketed. For finishing a close second to Plunder Bar last Saturday (Bonny Axworth has been penalised 12yds. _ Air Marshal is a newcomer, and on his winning form in the spring should be the favourite, and there will be strong support for the Gamble King-Pocket Book and the Logan Rey-Grelba brackets. 4.45 AU REVOIR HANDICAP. £SOO. Class 3.6. lm 3f. Aberhall ... scr Ingle Belmer 12 Barometer Vimy Ridge 12 Chimes ... scr Princess Chinook ... scr Maritza ... 24 Happy King bct Technique 24 Jeeves scr Elvo's Pride 36 Margaret Plunder Bar 36 Hall ...- ... scr Liberty Bond 48 Water Ranger ... scr Margaret Hall and Liberty Bond and Vimy Ridge and Plunder Bar will be bracketed. Plunder Bar won his second race last Saturday in 3.1 2-5, and is now assessed at 3.3. His final run over the last two furlongs was an exceptional one, and he is the likely favourite, with Aberhall and Ingle Belmer the best fancied of the others.- ' Trotting Calendar's ' Selections. • Waverley Handicap.
