GIFT FOR RESEARCH WORK ((Rec. 8 a.m.) LONDON,-Jan. 2?. , A gift of £5,000 has bona presented to Sir Alexander Fleming, discoverer of penicillin, from . the £25,000 tiust fund created' in 1924 by. the late Sir Leicester Harmsworth to encourage research into the cause and treatment
of infective endo-varditis, from which one of his sons and his brother, Lord Northcliffe, died. Sir Alexander Fleming's co-workers, Sir Howard Florey and Dr Doris Chain, have each received a cheque for £2.500.
