KIWIS' BIG WIN SGOTTISH UNIVERSITIES OUTCLASSED TOURISTS' BRILLIANT EXHIBITION (N.Z.E.F*. Correspondent.) !(Itec. 11.25 a.m.) GLASGOW, Jan. 23. J Playing on a ground covered with three inches of snow, the N.Z.E.F. team turned on an amazing exhibition of clever, open Rugby at the Old Anniesland Ground, beating Scottish Universities by 57 to 3. The students were completely outclassed and tackled weakly. The Kiwis tossed the ball, about light-heartedly and tried all sorts of fancy passing movements. Some -broke down, and the students' packmen occasionally seized the chance thus offered to rattle the defence with slashing dribbling rushes, but the tricklness of the Kiwi backs constantly had the defence in a state of confusion. The score comprised 12 tries, nine of which were converted, and one ' penalty goal to one try. Fred Allen, as much at home in the snow as a chamois in the Alps, was the outstanding .player on the field and the main factor in giving thrust to most of the back movements. Bob Scott, full-tack, kicked 21 points. . A crowd ~of about 2,000 saw the twice-postponed game played in a mist which turned into a thick fog toward the end of the match, and e'njoyed the fame, which was generally expected to e a forward scramble, but turned out a most entertaining exhibition. • Colonel Andrews has recovered from influenza, but Haigh and Simpson have joined the victims, and Simpson was replaced to-day .by Woolley. The teams were: •

N.Z.E.F.—Scott, Sherratt. _ Meates, Boggs, Dobson, Allen (captain). Edwards, Bell, Ingpen, Bond, Blake, Johnstone, Woolley, Thornton, and Young. " Scottish Universities.—A. R. Murray, G. D. Kay. The Universities kicked off, and after scrambling play the ball was kicked through. Edwards worked the ■blind side and the New Zealand forwards went over the line, but were offside. The Kiwis' backs went for a gallop a . minute later and! continued the attack, Ingpen scoring and Scott missing an easy - kick. Universities staged an attack, but Scott kicked for the line. Smith raced up, fielding the ball at full speed. He was tackled on the line, but dived over, Smith missing the conversion. Both sides threw the ball about in amazing fashion. Allen made another brilliant run before sending to Boggs, who raced over, Scott.missing the kick. The Kiwi forwards made a loose rush, Young picking up the ball andl scoring after a barging run of about 20yds, Scott converting. University : attacked in a loose rush, .but the Kiwis started a passing rush in their own twenty-five,- Meates breaking through and running Sherratt into position for a score after a run from about halfway. Scott converted. Again the Scottish attack went to 'the Kiwis' twenty-five, but Edwards sent play hack, and, after loose play in the .Scottish quarter, the Kiwi' forwards started a short passing bout, the ball going to Allen, who cut through and scored, - Scott converting. A great Scottish dribbling rush' took play to Kiwi territory, and from a ruck Edwards sent to Allen, to Dobson, and - back to Allen, who raced past the fullback and scored, Scott converting. • Another Scottish dribbling rußh took the ball to Kiwi territory, McKenzie intercepting a Kiwi pass and running to Scott, whose tackle took him intq touch. The Kiwi backs got going, and Dobson went through a gap brilliantly and sent to Boggs, who scored wide out, Scott missing. Scott, after failing with a long penalty shot, picked up the return and flicked the ball behind his back to Dobson, who caught th& defence going the wrong way and scored under the posts, Scott converting. The ground was now very slushy, but the Kiwis continued to toss the ball about entertainingly. ' Scott, kicked a good penalty, and then came a dazzling passing movement in which •half the team handled, Meates scoring and Scott converting. / In another rush' Dobson raged over, Scott converting.
