REGIONAL OFFICE IN EUROPE NECESSARY DAY-TO-DAY CO-OPERATION ESSENTIAL (Rec. noon.) LONDON, December 21. The United Nations must have a regional office in Europe, said Mr Noel Baker, Britain's chief of the delegation, to the Preparatory Commission at a dinner given by the chairman of the commission, Dr Zuleta. Mr Noel Baker added that Britain's efforts to have the headquarters in Europe were unsuccessful, but it had resolved to do the utmost to make the United Nations Organisation a success in the trans-Atlantic home. He maintained, however, that a central European office must be established to bring practical day-to-day co-operation to the Continent. It was vital for Europe and its immediate reconstruction, and for the United Nations Organisation's long-term projects, that this centre le established soon.
