GOVERNOR OF BENGAL
MR CASEY RESIGNS POSITION BRITISH RAILWAY UNION LEADER APPOINTED (Rec. 11.10 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 6. Mr R. G. Casey (who was formerly in the Australian Federal Cabinet) has resigned the Governorship of Bengal. His Majesty has appointed. • Mr Frederick John Burrows to succeed Mr Casey in February, 1946. Mr Burrows
was president of tho National Union of (Railwaymen from 1942 to 1944. Also in the same period he was a member of the executive of tho Labour Party. Mr Burrows served as a ranker in the Grenadier Guards from 1911 to 1918, and was a prominent railwaymen's union leader after the war.
