The Dominion Weather Office advised at noon: Pressure is high to the north, but there is a depression over Otago. Forecast to 5 p.m. on Thursday: Moderate to fresh, winds from a southerly quarter. Occasional rain to-day, some local heavy falls. Rivers rising. Rain decreasing to-morrow. Temperatures cold. Further outlook: Scattered coastal showers.
