PRISON SYSTEM MAY END
SWEDEN SUGGESTS COLONIES FOR CRIMINALS
(Rec. 8 a.m.) LONDON. October 18. Sweden may shortly abolish gaols if Parliament adopts a suggestion by the Minister of Justice, N M. T. Bergquist, that convicted felons, even those serving life sentences, be placed in open-air colonies in the country and given farming work or taught .trades.
