MAN-POWER APPEALS
THIS MORNING'S OASES A sitting of the Industrial Manpower Appeal Committee was commenced this morning. Mr M: W. Grantham was in the chair, and associated with him were Messrs H. H. Gillard and G. P. McKellar.. Representing the Department of Health, Mr G. 0. L. Dempster appealed against a direction that Miss M. T. Feimessey, a pricing clerk employed by the department., in connection with pharmaceutical benefits, be directed to nursing work in Seacliff Mental Hospital. After hearing evidence the committee reserved its decision. A similar finding was announced'to Miss E. MacGillivray, who appealed against a decision refusing her permission to terminate her employment with Messrs Ross and Glendining Ltd. Medical evidence was produced recommending that she be given a change of employment. She had worked as a weaver for 14 years. In a similar appeal by Mrs I. H. Russell, working for the same company, it was arranged for the appellant tr be medically boarded. F. S. Garner appealed against a direction that he take up employment in a dairy factory in Southland. The appeal was disallowed RESERVED DECISIONS. Decisions of the board, reserved from last week's sitting, and announced today, were as follows: — The appeal of the Railways Department against the permission granted Mr L. W. Gibbs to terminate his emplovment at Hillside was disallowed. the appeal of Mr N. Hananeia against transference to the position of labourer was also disallowed.
