MAGISTRATES PROTEST
MANNER IN WHICH TRIAL CONDUCTED (Rec. 11.5 a.m.) PARIS, October 17. A delegation of Paris magistrates protested- to the Minister of Justice. M. Teitgen, against the manner in which the Laval trial had been conducted. The delegation read a resolution adopted at a meeting of the magistrates deploring the regrettable incidents in the High Court and expressing indignation that the whole judicial corps should he branded. It added: "The meeting proclaims the urgent necessity of reforms guaranteeing the competence and independence of magistrates. The restoration of judiciary powers is one of the conditions necessary for the good working of Republican institutions."
