PRESIDENT TO HEAR APPEAL
(Rec. 11.5 a.m.) LISBON, Oct. 17. President Carmona agreed to receive the Opposition leaders to hear an appeal against Dr Salazar's refusal to
grant the Opposition demands designed to ensure free elections. . (Reuter's Lisbon correspondent says shopkeepers who have been collecting signatures for the Opposition's demand for free elections were summoned to the office of the Civil Governor and told to stop in their own interests.
