—Air Passengers.—
Passengers from the* north yesterday were: —Mr W. A. Cooke, Mr .and Mrs H. M. Fogarty (from Auckland), Mrs M. Thompson, Mrs D. Hurley, Mr W. B. Brittain, Mr Wren, Mr J. F. Hargreave (from Wellington), Mr Rowley, Mrs Rocolly (from Christchurch). Passengers from the south yesterday were:—Mr J. MacPherson, Mrs J. MacPherson, Mr W. W. Gillies, Mr R. Ogilvy, Lieutenant H. R. Bennett. Passengers for the north to-day were:—Mr A. Fisher, Miss N? Hamilton (for Christchurch), Mr S. Pizer, Mr R. Fraser, Mrs F. Fenton, Mr J. Johnston, Mr C. Dodds; Mrs D. Ewen (for Wellington), Mr R. Laing, Mrs R. Laing and infant (for Auckland).
Mr R. P. Fraser, director of the Internal . Marketing Division, arrived in Dunedin yesterday afternoon. He was accompanied by Mr J. W. McConnqn, head of the dairy produce and egg marketing section of the division, ana Mr J. A. Manton, manager of the Christchurch branch.
Staff-sergeant Gerald Hutton, of the Federated Malay States Volunteer Forces, who was a prisoner of waT from the fall of Singapore, arrived in Dui-edin-yesterday. He is staying with his sister, Mrs W. L. Cameron, of Anderson's Bay. Mr S. G. Scoular, city engineer, has been co-opted as a member of .the executive otf Otago Regional Planning Council. In this capacity'he will also act as liaison officer between the Regional Council and the Commissioner of Works, whose local representative is Mr C. Langbein, district engineer of the Public Works Department. This appointment is preparatory to the drawing up of a schedule of Government works and certain local body projects for Otago. / ■ Pte. Lewis Edward Harold Muller (Oamaru), previously reported a prisoner, is now gazetted as safe. -Mr and Mrs A. D. Sutherland have received cable advice that their son, Captain Wemyss Sutherland, R.A.M.C, a prisoner of war in Thailand, died on August 14, 1945. Captain Sutherland was. tafken prisoner ,on the fall of Malaya. Mr J. W. Mawson, Director of Town and Regional Blanning, js at present on a visit to Dunedin. He will also visit.
