PRO-FASCIST DEMONSTRATIONS

OUTRAGES IN ARGENTINA (Rec. 8 a.m.) NEW YORK, Aug. 17. in shameful episodes of organised violence, 200 soldiers last evening flourished bayonets and other weapons and terrorised the city's centre, says the 'New York Times ' Buenos Aires correspondent. They were commanded by non-commissioned officers. The soldiers committed scandalous outrages, killing two citizens and wounding many others who refused to, take off their hats when the soldiers cried, " Long live Peron."

The soldiers repeatedly cheered Hitler and Mussolini, and cried. "Down with democracy! Death to the Jews." [Colonel Juan Peron is at present Vice-President of Argentina and is one of the leaders of the military group which seized power in 1944.
