AMERICAN NAVY

POST-WAR STRENGTH (Rec. 8 a.m.) WASHINGTON, August 16. Calling on 30,000 reserve officers to join the permanent service, the Navy Department reveals plans for a postwar strength of between 500,000 and 550,000 men, and also 100,000 marines. The navy is at present 3,295,000 strong.
