REFUSES TO RETURN TO FRENCH RULE (Rec 8 a.m.) NEW YORK, Aug. 17. The Kingdom of Viet Nam will not accept peace' if it means returning to French rule, says Tokio radio. Viet Nam is a' puppet kingdom in An nam created by the Japanese last March. A Doiinei Agency despatch from "Hanoi sa.id Viet Nam's Premier issued a declaration asserting the kingdom's intention to defend its independence and wipe out French influence. " Every man must be prepared to die for the motherland. We refuse to be subjugated again by France, under whose fetters we long suffered," he said.
