FIRST ARBITRATION COURT AWARD The Arbitration Court lias .issued its first award covering, the wages aud conditions of fish shop employees in the Otago-Southlaud 1 district. The award will remain in operation till August 20, 1946. The principal matters settled by the court related to hours of work, right of entry, employment of females, provision of .coats and aprons, bicycle allowance',' and closing hours.. The wage rates provided for. in the award are in accordance with the agreement of the representatives of the parties. The ordinary weekly hours of work are not to exceed 44, to be worked between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on five days of the week and between 8 a.m. and noon on the day of the weeklv halfholiday. Wages for the first shopman in charge are fixed at £6 3s 6d a week, aud for all other adult workers at £5 13s 6d. Wages tor boys and youths range from £1 7s a week for from 15 to 15} years of age to £4 Is for from 20 to 21 years. Overtime is to be pa.id for at the rate of time and a-half for the first three hours and double time thereafter. All wage rates are subject to the court's two cost-of-living bonuses
