TRAINING COLLEGE TOURNAMENT

TENNIS AND HOCKEY MATCHES By winning the men's hockey and the lawn tennis and recording a draw in the women's hockey match, Christchurch Training College established a lead for the Tournament Shield by 7 points to 5 against Dunedin yesterday. In the women's match, the teams were very evenly matched, and after scores were 2 goals each, about midway through the second spell, Christchurch took the lead, but just before time Dunedin again equalised, and the game ended in a goals each'. Scorers for Dunedin were J. Child (2) and K. Brydone. The men's match was won rather easily by Christchurch, whose combination was inferior to. that of the local side. The final score was 5 goals to lin favour of the visitors. < LAWN TENNIS. Christchurch won the lawn tennis tournament on the Logan Park courts yesterday by 10 sets to 6. The visitors made a clean sweep of the men's singles and doubles, but Dunedin won three 'of the four matches in the mixed doubles. Miss C. Clarke and Miss S. Stone won match in the women's doubles, and each of these players was also ' successful in the singles and in their respective matches in the mixed doubles.

Women's Singles.—Miss H. Walshe beat Miss M.. Lemin 9—B, Miss B. Sparrow beat Miss K. Brydon .9—7, Miss M. Manning lost to Miss C. Clarke I—9, Miss B. Hurst lost -to Miss S. Stone 3—9.

Men's Doubles.—O. Harvey and M. B. Mitchell beat R. J. Bloomfield and L. Swanson 9—4. B. Rolfe . and R.Marks beat. R. Wood and J. Mann 9-7.

DRAMA EVENING. The visitors were entertained in Wallace Hall last night when the College Drama Club presented J. B. Priestley's play, 'Laburnum Grove.' Miss J. Stevens was the producer.
