O.F.C. IN WRECKED PLANE

DELHI, June 25. _ The mystery of an ownerless Distinguished Flying Cross has been solved. B'ound in the wreckage of an aircraft which crashed in Dorset on June 15, this cross was at first assumed to have belonged to one of the crew or one of the passengers who perished. Investigations establish that none of them had been awarded the D.F.C.

A letter just received by Wing-com-mander Alfred Harding, of Wellington, who commands the R.A.F. Transport Squadron in India, reveals that the cross is his property. The cross and other of his kit were being sent out to him in this aircraft. The award was made to Wing-commander Harding in January, 1943, for his part in the Middle East and Malta campaigns while serving in Wellingtons.
