TESCHEN DISPUTE

CZECH AND POLISH CLAIMS MATTER FOR GREAT POWER ADJUSTMENT (Rec. 8 a.m.) LONDON, June 27. Referring to the Polish-Czech dispute over Teschen, M. Gomolka, VicePremier of the Polish Provisional Government, claimed that largo sections of territory were historically and ethnically Polish. The principle of selfdetermination should be applied! to the problem, which should not bo left, to the peace conference. He added that all Slav nations should settle all their problems among themselves. The Czech Prinie Minister. M. Fierlinger, who is at present in Moscow, in a reply to M. Gomolka, recalled thai; the JaVger part of Teschen, which is historically a Czech regiou, was given to Poland in 1920. " That solution was against our interests, but we accepted it in. order to preserve good neighbourly relations with the Poles," he said. " There are naturally Czechs in the Polish Tssehsn region just as there are Poles in the Czech Teschen regiou, but the problem does not call for a territorial adjustment. We cannot discuss any ceding of this territory with, the Polish Government. The solution will be reached in an orderly way with the help of the great Powers."
