—Air Passengers.— Passengers for the north to-day were Mr F. M. Henderson, Mrs Le Strange (for Christchurch), Dr A, Lillie, Mr G. C. Sherwood, Mrs It. Halcombe and infant, Mr H. M. Reynolds, registrar of the Supreme Court at Dunedin, returned from luvercargill on Saturday, after attending the session of the Supreme Court there. Major G.H. Macan, N.Z.S.C., has relinquished his appointment as supply and trasport officer at Trentham mobilisation camp, and has returned to , Christchurch to take.up the appointment of assistant director of supply and transport in the Southern Military District. Mr B. Clearwater, of Invercargill, who has been nominated to fill the vacancy on the Dairy. Board caused by the retirement of Mr John Dunlop, was a farmer in the Mokotua district for about 35 years until he sold his farm recently. He joined the board of directors of the Mokotua Dairy Factory Company in 1915. He was prominent in the controversy over Dairy Board Control in 1925 and in the guaranteed price discussions about 10 years ago. He was a member of the Southland Farm Costing Committee which made an exhaustive investigation into dairy farming costs in 1938 and presented a strong case to the Government for an increase in the guaranteed price. Mr-?-.; M. Howell (Strath Taieri Riding) has been elected chairman of the Taieri County Council for the incoming term. At the monthly meeting the oouncil placed on record a minute of appreciation of the services of the retiring chairman (Mr J. Wither). Latest registrations at the Grand, Hotel include Mrs A.
