INCREASE IN BIRTHS REGISTERED An increase of 18 per cent, on the 1944 equivalent period was recorded in births in the Otago district during the month ended to-day. Deaths and marriages showed only slight changes. The respective returns are as follows, tho comparative figures for April, 1944, being given in parentheses:—Births 142 (120), deaths 86 (80), and marriages 55 (58).
