St. John Women's War Committee.

The final committee meeting for the year was held on Tuesday, Mrs A. A. Fairbairn presiding. Brief reports were received from the conveners of sub-committees. It was reported that the following goods had been sent to the Joint Council Headquarters during the month:—2l3 roller bandages, 46 pairs pyjamas, assorted swabs and handkerchiefs, 47 pairs socks, and 11 pull-overs. It was decided to close down sewing meetings until further notice, and the committee hoped to bo able to give the workers a wellearned vacation until the end of January. Arrangements for the St. John Ambulance Association'6 street day to be held on Friday, November 24, are well in hand, the committee being responsible for a shop. Donations of saleable goods will be most welcome. Mrs W. F. Fdmond has again invited all members in connection with the War Committee to a garden party to be held at her residence on December 8. at 2.45 p.m. Voluntary Aids.—During the past month V.A.s have been assisting in-the wards at the Public Hospital during the day and in the evening, as well as doing duty in the casualty department. All V.A.s are asked to note that the final meeting will be held at headquarters on Wednesday, November 22.' Women's Transport Division.—The transport division held its final meeting for the year last Thursday evening. Dr McAllister attended the meeting, and the early part was devoted to informal questioning, which proved most interesting and instructive. At the conclusion of the meeting the division held a farewell supper party in conjunction with the Kaikorai Ambulance Division, when opportunity was taken to make a presentation to Miss Clare Williams, secretary of the division, who is leaving shortly. A small presentation was also made to Dr'McAllister. Women's Club Flower Show.

There was a 'magnificent display of summer blooms nt the flower-show arranged by the Gardening Circle of the Otago Women's Club in the club lounge yesterday afternoon. The show was not competitive, each exhibitor being responsible for a table. On the stage was a'n effective threetiered display in tones of pink, cherry blossom, rhododendrons, and stocks predominating. Another outstanding table held all shades of pink rhododendrons flanked with boughs of young elm. Tulips were specially beautiful and there was an exquisite display of specially-large schizanthus in shades of pink and mauve. Ranunculus, pansies, poppies, and lilac made a brave show, as well as many smaller exhibits of choice and rarer blooms.

Those who exhibited were Lady Ferguson, Lady Sidey, Mesdames H. H. Walker, Cedric Benzoni, J. P. McGowan, M. McCaig, Gilbert Black, Wakefield Holmes, T. Fleming, A. McCarthy, A. H. Allen, M. A. Benzoni, W. O. McKellar, Gerald Fitzgerald, W. F. Edmond, Misses Martin, Nelson, Eudy, and Elliffe.
