ELIMINATOR OF SNIPERS CONTINUES
(Rec. 12.30 p.m.) . WASHINGTON, July 12. Mopping-up operations and tha elimination of snipers continued on Saipan on Monday and Tuesday, say« a Pacific Fleet communique. On» marine regiment killed 711 enemy troops and interned over 9,000 Japanese' Carrier-based aircraft attacked Guam and Rota on Monday. Military installations at Agana. Umatac, and Agata, towns on the western shore of Guam Island, were bombed and subjected to rocket fire- Buildings near Orote Point were also hit. (Runways and defence installations were bombed at Rota. Liberators dropped 50 tons of bombs on the Dublon Island naval base in the Truk atoll on Monday. Neutralisation raids against the Munshalls were cari ried out on Monday.
