AIR ATTACKS
CLOSE SUPPORT TO GROUND FORGES
(Rec. 12.35 p.m.) LONDON, July 12. From midnight to noon to-day Allied aircraft ranged from Brussels to Bordeaux attacking transport-and supply facilities and harassing troops. During the night light bombers patrolled the Seine crossings and the Orleans area, bombing power installations at Blois and railway yards at Tours. From first light fighters and fighter-bombers gave the ground forces close support, attackin"- many targets indicated by the army commanders. They also dive-bombed troops and choke points at Mantes, Gassicourt Kpernon, Chartres, and southwest of Rambouillet. A railway bridge near Cherisy was also attacked, and railway 'lines at Tours, Saumur, La Fleche*, and Oherisy cut. In the Snint Lo area medium and lio-ht bombers destroyed a number of vehicles in a late morning attack against troop concentrations, fuel dumps, and motor parks.
