ALLIED FOOTING IN FRANCE GENERAL MONTGOMERY'S MESSAGE TO TROOPS (Rec. 10 a.m.) LONDON, July 11. Tn a message to the troops in Normandy General Montgomery said: " Our gains have been definite and concrete. We have held everything we have gained, despite the enemy's desperate efforts to push us back into the sea. We have taken more than 54,000 prisoners, given the enemy a tremendous pounding, and inflicted great losses. Our lodgment is firm and sernire. We are developing offensive operations according to plan. I say to every Allied soldier in Normandy, 'Well done, well done indeed.' "
