POSITION IN BENGAL Press Association — By Telegraph—Copynghi LONDON, July 11. "Bengal is threatened with a recurrence of the famine," says the New Delhi correspondent of ' Reynolds's News.' " The United States is pressing Britain to take immediate steps to counter the danger. The current wheat, wop is poor, and the food situation has already been described by Indian leaders as ' grim.' The Viceroy, Lord Wavell, is said to be acutely aware of the impending crisis, and is demanding food supplies immediately." adds the correspondent. Mr L. Berry, secretary at the United States headquarters in New Delhi, has written to Washington asking for ships to be made available at once.
