EARLY SETTLERS' ASSOCIATION
The monthly meeting of the Otago Early Settlers' Association was attended by the president, Mr J. W. Patton (in the chair), Messrs A. F. Cheyne, J. Dey, H. C. King, J. Hope, W. J. Strong, A. G. McKenzie, F. H. Campbell, D. C. Cameron, F. W. Knight, D. J. Calder, R. T. Stewart, G. Hutton, J. A Paterson, Edgar Hazlett, and W. R. Brugh. The following gifts were received during the month: —From Miss I. J. Scott, photographs of her late parents, Mr and Mrs Mark Scott Milton (father, Eden, 1850); from Miss S. Wain, two tuis shot on Flagstaff in 1894; from Mr <W. W. Batchelor, a circular dated September 16, 1858, notifying that the partnership of J. Macandrew and W. H. Reynolds had been dissolved; from Mr J. B. Waters, the minute book of the Catlins River railway, 1901 to 1907; from Mr A. Souness, a photograph of his grandmother's wattle and daub cottage, huilt at Otokia, in 1863; from Mrs M. Thompson, photographs of her late parents. Mr and Mrs William Mawson (father, Dudbrook, 1863; mother, nee Lean). Two life members, Lady Roberts and Mrs J Jennings and six ordinary members were enrolled durins the month. The following deaths were recorded during the month:—Mr Francis Blew Smith (Omeo, 1863> aged 87 vears, and Mr Donald Munro (Palmyra, 1858), aged 92 vears
