ORKNEY AND SHETLAND SOCIETY
The monthly social of the Orkney and Shetland Society was held on Saturday night. In the absence of the president (Mr C. Smith), Mr G. R. Borwick presided over a large gathering. After a short address of welcome he made reference to the death from wounds on active service-
of Mr William Stevenson, son of the society's patron, Mr William Stevenson, and Mrs Stevenson He asked all present to stand in silence while Piper Airdrie Stewart played the lament. The evening was spent in dancing, with the inclusion of Che following items: —Miss Norma Taylor, Highland "dancing, and Miss M. Wentworth, piano-accordion solos. A. B. Fraser. Music was supplied by Messrs Mac Murray and Hargreaves, extras being played by Messrs .Wentworth, Baunhop, and Fraser. Mr G. R. Borwick wag theM.G.
