BEER DE LUXE
FAMOUS BREW ON SHOW In these days of wartime.beer th& contents of a small bottle at present being shown in the window of the •bottle store of the Grand Hotel m Princes street would delight the palateof those who yearn for a return to tho normal strength of ale. The liquor in the bottle was brewed by King Edward. VII. on February 2. 1902, to commemorate a visit he paid to Bass's Brewery. The bottle on/show has been stored in the cellars of the Grand Hotel for the past 25 years. A bottle of the same brew brought £460 at Christie's in London last year, when it was sold for patriotic purposes. Another bottle of this brew was presented to Walter Lindrum, the world billiard champion, when he visited the brewery in 1931, and he.gave it to the blinded service men and women's appeal in march of this year for auction: It was stated before the sale that, though the price expected would far exceed the figure fixed by the price-controlling authorities,, no prosecutions were expected to follow.
