WOUNDING OF SOLDIER. Admitted to the Wellington Hospital on Thursday night with a .22 bullet wound in the abdomen, Richard Chorley, a soldier, is now reported to have regained consciousness, but his condition is still serious.—Press Association. FATAL INJURY. The chief officer of,> ship in port was fatally injured at about 2 o'clock this morning when he was crushed between a car and a roadside pole. He was Leslie Ranfurly Leeder, a married man, aged 46, of 19 Sumner road, Lyttelton. ,The officer was riding on the running board of a car travelling along Manukau i'oad, and ass the car approached the intersection of Manukau and Great South road it swerved to the near side of the. road, and Leeder was caught between the side of the car and the jiole. He suffered spinal injuries and shock, and died in Auckland Hospital shortly after 4 o'clock.— Auckland Association telegram. KILLED INSTANTLY. Graham' Hamilton lies (17) was killed instantly last night when a motor car left the road on the Cashmere Hills. A girl passenger, Jean McConchie, received concussion, and two other girls and two youths received minor injures.—Christc'hurch message. SUDDEN COLLAPSE.^ Marion Myrtle Florence Cropley, aged 40, residing at Cargill road. South Dunedin, collapsed and died while coming out of the Wesley Street Hall at B.3o'last evening.
