RUTHLESS PURGE
NAZI WORK IN HUNGARY GENERAL AND FILM STAR AMONG VICTIMS (Rec. 11.10 a.m.) LONDON, May 8. The Nazis are carrying out a ruthless purge in Hungary, according to Swedish reports. The Gestapo is killing all Hungarians suspected of knowing the facts which culminated in the German occupation of Hungary. The victims, it is stated, are taken to the vaults of the Hungarian- National Bank for execution. They include General Stephen Ujszaszi and his girl friend, the Hungarian film star, Catherine Karady. Colonel Kadar, chief of Hungarian military intelligence, is another victim. With them perished about 30 high officials of the army and the State Security Department.
