MR BARCLAY IN AUSTRALIA Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright (Rec. 8 a.m.) CANBERRA, May b. New Zealand's new High Commissioner to Australia, Mr J. G. Barclay, and Mrs Barclay were entertained at a reception to-day by the former High Commissioner, Mr C: A. Berendsen, and Mrs Berendsen. The reception was attended by members of tho Diplomatic Corps and prominent Government officials.
. Mr Barclay was officially welcomed by the Acting Prime Minister, Mr F. M. Forde, who said he was sure the spirit of co-operation displayed, by the representatives of the countries at the recent Canberra. Conference would be continued between the New Zealand High Commissioner and the Commonwealth Government. The Government was grateful for the co-operation displayed in the ipast. Mr Barclay said he arrived at Canberra with a feeling of confidence that he would be able to serve his country and also be helpful to Australia. Mr Barclay and Mr Forde had an hour's talk in which matters of mutual interest were discussed. Mr Barclay plans to tour the commonwealth in the near future.
