TROTTING OFFENCES
WELL-KNOWN DRIVERS SUSPENDED (P.A.) OHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 26. At a meeting of the New Zealand Trotting Association last night several cases of alleged interference in races were dealt with. L. F, Berkett, the driver of Highland Sco.tt, which was disqualified for the Xew Year Handicap at Auckland for interference with Hilda Potts, was suspended from riding or driving for one month. F. C. Walker, the driver of First Royal, which finished first in the Victory Trot.at Wyndham and was placed second to Bank Again after an inquiry into interference, was suspended from riding'or driving for one month; • - G. McKendry, who was.fined £lO for interference while driving Countless in the Telegraph Handicap at the Canterbury Park Club's meeting, was also suspended for one mouth.' while the stipendiary steward was instructed to lodge an objection to Countless being awarded fourth place.
The charge of interference against J. Bryce, jun., the driver of Shadow Maid, will be advanced a further stage on February 18, when the objection to Shadow Maid being declared the winner of* the Ollivier Handicap will be considered. * - ■
