SENTENCED TO DEATH
CIANO AND DE BONO FASCIST VENGEANCE (Rec. 11 a.m.) RUGBY, Jan. 10. Count Ciano, Mussolini's son-in-law, Marshal de Bono, and other notorious Fascist leaders who voted for the deposition of the Duce, have been sentenced to death by a special Fascist tribunal in northern Italy. The ' Daily Telegraph's ' Zurich correspondent reports that the trial began on Saturday of Count Ciano, General de Bono (the former supreme commander of the Italian army), Signor
Marinelli (ex-director of the. Fascist Party), Signor Gpttardi (ex-trade union chief), Signor Cianetti (exMinister of Fascist Corporations), and Signor Pareschi (ex-Minister of Agriculture). The opening stages of the trial are not reported in the neoFascist Press.
The German News Agency, announced: "The trial of the signatories of the order of the day drawn up by Grandi for the session of the Fascist Grand Council leading to the wellknown events of July 25 has been taking place at Castle Vechio, Verona, since January 8. All the accused were sentenced to death except Cianetti, who was sentenced to 30 years' penal servitude." The News Agency added that 18 were sentenced to death. 13 of whom were absent.
