KIDNAPPING PLOT
HITLER THE VICTIM • LONDON, Oct. 23. ,Ari astonishing story of a plot to kidnap Hitler was broadcast by the Berlin radio, quoting a special report from the German High Command, which claimed the capture of relevant military documents. Shortly before the Italian Government surrendered, the Italian military attache at Berlin transmitted to the Fuhrer a- request that he should go immediately to Italy to discuss .with King Victor Emmanuel find Marshal Badoglio the intensification of resistance against the common enemy.
The handing over of Mussolini to the Allies had already been decided upon, and it was obvious that the invitation was made to the Fuhrer in order to place him in the hands of the British and Americans, but as the German Government knew about Marshal Badoglio'si Government's preparations for military treachery, it was refused.
