RECORD COLLECTION IN DUNEDIN A generous response was made by the public of Dunedin and suburbs to the annual Poppy Day.appeal yesterday of the Dunedin Returned Services' Association, and when counting was completed last night it was found that the total was £2,000, with further returns to comb This is about £2BB more more than the amount collected Jast year, which itself represented a record. Features of the collection yesterday were the number of £5 notes placed in the boxes and the manner in which school children subscribed, many of them preferring, to buy poppies than the less exipensive emblems. The president of the R.S.A. (Mr S. G. Scoular) expresses his appreciation of the excellent work of the numerous women collectors and of the many organisations which assisted in the appeal. He also thanks the tellers of the National Bank and the Dunedin Savings Bank who assisted in counting the returns. To the general public he expresses the association's thanks for such a ready and generous response.
