WAR DAMAGE PREMIUMS
m REDUCTION AT PRESENT No reduction in war damage risk will be made by the Government in the meantime, it being stated that the reserve is at present insufficient justify anv reduction. This information was contained in a telegram from the Prime Minister, lit. Hon. P. Fraser, by the Dunedin Chamber of' Commerce, in' reply to representations made by the chamber through the Associated Chambers last, month "requesting that a reduction, be mdae in war damage premiums. The reply stated that the Government had given careful consideration to the request, but it did not feel justified at the present'time hi making any alterations. "As prominent members of the business community," said the message, " members of the Chamber of Commerce generally will appreciate the high value of goods and property at risk, particularly in the main ports. The total amount in the War Damage Fund Is in the vicinity of £1,500,000 at the present time, and in view of the heavy risk involved this-amount does not 'represent a ' reserve sufficient»to. justify any reduction at present."
