ANNUAL MEETING Although the “membership of the Dunedin CncKcl Gmb has been greatiy depleted by the demands of war, the club will carry on. So much was made clear by tbe speakers at iho forty-ninth annual meeting last night, when the president (Mr R. G. Torrance) presided over an attendance of just u dozen members. The Chairman, in moving the adoption of tlie report and balance sheet, referred to the satisfactory results achieved in spite of bad weather and heavy loss of membership because of war conditions. No fewer than 49 members and ex-members were now on • active service, 23 of them overseas. Among the latter there had fortunately been only two casualties, R. Bealson being wounded and R. Torrance, jun., being a prisoner of war. In referring to the performances of the senior eleven last season Mr Torrance specially mentioned the bowling of the captain, G. J. Robertson (55 wickets at an average of 9.4) and E. Ledgerwood (46 wickets at 12.1) Financially the club was on a sound footing, and in this connection thanks wore due to the honorary secretary and treasurer, Mr L. J. Pepperell. Nobody could say what would happen in the near future, but the club would carry on with the help of the older members. Mr G. A. Wycherley seconded the motion, which was carried. The following office-bearers were elected: —Patron. Mr J. Robson; president, Mr R. C. Torrance; vice-presidents, re-elected; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr L. J. Pepperell; club captain. Mr T. Ritchie; deputy club captain, Mr E Ledgerwood: committee — Messrs A. Reid, G. Symons, G. J. Robertson, D. McDonald. J. Pockson. and D. Rodden; delegates to 0.C.A., Messrs G. J. Robertson, A. G. Valentine, and J. Robson; delegate to Sports Protection Association. Mr L. J. Pepperell; delegate to Boys’ Cricket Association, Mr G. J. Robertson; lion, auditor. Mr C. E. Eyre: sole selector, Mr R, C. Torrance. It, was resolved to hold the official opening for the season on October 3. and that tbe subscriptions be tbe same as. last year. The question of the chib’s jubilee, which is due to be celebrated during 1943. was discussed, and it was resolved that, the matter be left in the hands of the special committee which'be a oiveadv breu appointed
