BRIGADIER CLIFTON MISSING
A FINE RECORD OF SERVICE (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 9. Brigadier G. H. Clifton has been officially reported as missing. This announcement was commented on by the Acting Prime Minister, Mr Sullivan, to-night. He said the removal of this gallant officer from the active list would be a severe loss to the New Zealand Division. He had a distinguished record of service in action. It was hoped that news of his safety would very soon be received. [Brigadier Clifton was a member of the New Zealand Staff Corps, and had undergone a course at Duntroon Royal Military College, Australia. He was an engineering officer, and his service had earned him the Military Cross and. the D. 5.0., the former being awarded during service in India.]
