WYNDHAM

Tlio first race at Wyndham 10-morrow is scheduled to start at 12.15 p.m. and though the usual special train from Dunedin will not he available, patrons can travel by the 8.33 a.m. Invercargill express to Edendale. The Wyndham course can stand a lot of moisture, without getting heavy, and is now in fast order. Unusually good fields arc carded, and iho wagering will be on the usual win and place system. Racing will commence with the Trial Handicap, five furlongs, and the draw for positions at the barrier will count. Feather Lassie, Lady Nuffield, and Red Feather will have the advantage of being smart beginners. The Diggers’ Harness Handicap is likely to bo run in divisions, and the Lustrous —Southern Wrack and Egotist—Vault brackets will be well supported, also Slieve View. The field for the Wyndham Cup is not likely to be as large as the acceptances indicate. The form he showed at Wingatui, in finishing second to The Raker the first day and to Strip on the second day should make Airline favourite, and he will have going much more to his liking. He will meet Strip on 91b better terms and certainly appears to be the pick of the light-weights. His most dangerous opponents will be Treasurer, Lord Nuffield, and Wild Career. In the Members' Memorial Handicap Symbol will meet Royal Chorus on the same terms as she beat him on at Wingatni, but the shorter distance is likely to favour the latter. Symbol, Royal Chorus, and Erin View are likely to be the favourites. If Lord Nuffield is reserved for the President’s Handicap he is likely to be made a good favourite, with support also forthcoming for St. Cloud and King Gustavo. A good field appears to be assured for the New Year Handicap, a race for horses that have not won stakes to the value of £l5O, and Lady Adin, on Wingatui form, should be selected favourite. Coy and Knight of Old may be the next best fancied. Scarlet O’Hara has previously shown a liking for (lie Wyndham track, on which she is trained, and the Play Safe—Erinack bracket and Capri and Prince Charles bracket are sure of strong support in the Victory Harness Handicap. The big field in the High-weight. Handicap may be reduced lo the number of qualified riders available. Platform, Rosaleon Dim, and Feather Roa are a likely trio.
