FLAX IN BRITAIN
ENCOURAGEMENT FOR GROWERS (British Official Wireless.) (Roe. S a.i11.) RUGBY, Nov. 26. By giving guarantees, tliu Ministry oi' Supply is encouraging British fanners to grow 50,000 acres of llax next spring with tiie object of meeting the increasing needs of the services as well as providing linen for export to America. The ‘ Daily Telegraph,’ reporting this, says 40,000 acres were grown last spring. In Northern Ireland the acreage was nearly 100,000, or five times the peace-time figure.
