University had the throw-off and a steady aftack by the players resulted iu J. Clayton opening the score. Albany carried play to its goal-mouth, but the shot failed to find the ring and the resultant University movement found M. Grant converting. University held the ascendancy and M. Grant added the third goal. The Albany centres I lieu carried play to the forwards, where a fine movement found E. Sinclair in possession under the ring, the shot being successful. For the next, few minutes Albany played, with great dash and D. Adams added two further goals, equalising the score at 3 all. The play then swung in favour of University ami great work by the centres —M. Martin, J. Jsdale, and P. ffaskerville—gave the forward; opportunities to score. J. attacked. A bad throw-in gave V. Ingram possession, and the ball travelled smartly lo the goal, where D. Adams converted. University again returned to the attack, and a beautiful movement resulted in J. Clayton’s scoring. S. Parker initiated a splendid Red movement, bub E. Sinclair’s shot rolled out of the ring. J. McLean cleared expertly and M. Grant found the ring, the same player scoring again a minute later, this being followed by a good shot by D. Adams for Albany. Good centre and' forward work found University in a likely position, but the ball rolled over the ring, and quick work by the Albany team found E. Sinclair sending it through the ring. The play at this stage was fast, and every opportunity to gain possession was taken advantage of. P. Harvey added Albany’s seventh goal ami just as balf-limc was sounded I). Adams again found the ring, making the halftime score; University 9, Albany 8. The second half opened with University playing on the top of form, M. Grant and .1. Clayton both scoring, despite good defence work by V. Ingram. Through a. quick save by E. Sinclair, I). Shearer cleared excellently, but University's attack did not result in a, score, tin' same applying to an Albany movement originaling from •!. Beauchamp and K. Mercer. Bright play followed oa the

part of University, J. Hattaway, At. Grant, and J. Clayton all finding the ring. This was followed by a good shot by D. Adams, advantage being taken by P. Middlcditch of an unguarded position back at goal. M. Grant and J. Clayton again scored. Albany then infused more dash into its play, and, despite good work by J. McLean, B. Aldred and C. Shearer, added the next, three goals (E. Sinclair 1, P. Harvey 2). Bright play followed, with University again scoring, to make the final result: University 21, Albany 15. Interhouse v. Third Grade Representatives. An interesting game between the Interhouse and Third Grade Representative teams was ako played at Logan Park iu conjunction with the 'Walker and Hall fixture. Unfortunately, the Third Grade team was not up to its full strength, but a splendid exhibition of the game was seen. The game opened at a good speed, and goals resulted from line combined movements. Good exchanges were witnessed between the loams, but Inierhousc showed slightly finer handling of ihc ball, which, with an equal turn of speed, resulted in a lead of 3 goals being obtained in the first half. Perhaps this was due to the work of the three forwards, who showed splendid combination and snappy work round the goalpost. The standard of play was high, and all showed a thorough knowledge of the basic principles which govern the game. Third Grade Final. A. and T. Tnglis defeated Forbnry Ex-girls hi the filial game of tlie .third grade compe-

lit ion. The first half of the game was very closely-cou tested, alternate scores being added during the first 10 minutes, the score thou reading 3 all. By dint of attractive play Inglis added 3 goals in succession, but during the last few minutes of the first half Forhury found its opponents out of position and also scored three goals, making the half-time score 6 all. The second half was remarkable for the reversal of form of the Forhury players. Although not playing such an attractive crania as their opponents in the first half, they had definitely proved equal in strength, hut right throughout the second half the Inglis players dominated the game, successfully capping off their movements with good shots at goal. Eight goals were added in succession before Forhury found the ring, when again scores were added alternately, the final being: A. and T. Inglis 18, Forhury Ex-girls 11. Southland’s Championship. The game between Rata A and Collegiate, Southland’s two lop teams, resulted in a victory for Rata, the team winning by 11 goals to 9. The match was evenly-con-tested throughout, and a feature of the play of both teams was the excellent handling. One of the host performances of the day was that of 1). Baird, the Collegiaio centre. The score- at half-time wore 6-5 in favour of Rala. On the resumption of play the pace quickened. Collegiate scored 3 goalin sncco-ion at one -lage to bring the score to 9 all, hut in ihc last few minutes of play B. Mehalfey -cored 2 goals to give Rata ‘the victory. Thus Rata again holds (Southland's championship.
