Considerable interest is attached to this year’s Derby, in which only Laureate standi out. The Bailiff, Galliard, Yaralla, and It’s Funny are quietly fancied. The Melbourne colt Lugano has done well on the tracks since his pooc showing a couple of weeks ago. Cloudy Bay, ridden by Read, did his most impressive gallop to-day since his arrival in Sydney. He covered the last seven of eight furlongs in Imiu 35£sec. The prominent Epsom candidates, Evergreen and Freckles, came through the final gallops at Uoscbury with flying colours. The Metropolitan hopes, Triggerman and Gundagai, shaped promisingly. Lucrative, Pandect Prince, Haridelle, Reading acquitted themselves creditably in strong working gallops over a mile. Beau Vito simply cantered away from Remare at the end of a circuit, taking Imin 47Jsec, the last seven in Imin 33>)sec.
