SUPPLIES FROM AMERICA
DEFINITION OF " PROFIT " (P.A.) WELLINGTON. October, 2. A more explicit definition of the term “ profit,” as applied to the distribution in New Zealand of supplies from the United States under the Lease and Lend Act, was given in an interview by the Hon. W. Nash. He had said previously that the Government was required to give an assurance that the goods supplied in this way would be distributed to users -without profit.
“ The question of profit means that there is to be no accepted profit—in the ordinary sense of the term, a sum over and above the cost of the commodity, plus service charge,” said Air Nash. “It is essential, however, that there should be paid a servicing charge to reimburse the costs and overhead of the firms carrying out the distribution of the goods.”
