JOINT COMMITTEE MEETING The monthly meeting of the Otago Committee of tee Joint Council of the Order of St. John and New Zealand Red Cross Society was attended by Mr H. L, Paterson (in the chair), Miss I. M‘Lean, Mrs F. Redder, Sir Lindo Ferguson, Messrs Charles V. Smite, and A. M'Hutchon. A letter was received from headquarters in Wellington regarding the appointment of a secretary for the War Activities Joint Council, together with conditions of appointment and schedule of duties. Queen Mary Military Hospital, Hanmer Springs.—Arrangements were made by the Otago Committee of the Joint Council for the sending of cake, biscuits, etc., to the hospital for tee month of October. These would he sent weekly, the first consignments to arrive by October 4. Miss D. 0. Ramsay, secretary of the Prisoners of War Inquiry Office, reported on this work. Details were given of the inquiries which had gone through tee office in the past month. Next-of-kin were being notified as fresb information came to hand.
