ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
FATAL FALL. Severe injuries, which later proved fatal, were suffered by an elderly man when he fell down a flight of 30 stairs at the entrance to a billiard saloon in Auckland city. The victim was ilr Richard Woods, a war pensioner, of St. Paul street. He was removed to hospital, but died a few minutes after his admission. FRACTURED LEG. Alfred Freeman, a middle-aged married man, who resides at 5 Wicklitfe street, Mosgiel, received a fractured left leg when he fell down some steps while delivering bread last evening. He was admitted to hospital at 1.30 a.m. to-day.' STRUCK BY LORRY. Walking with her husband along; Allen street shortly before midday, Mrs C. E. Adams, wife of Dr C. E. Adams, former Government Astronomer, was struck by a lorry backing into a loading dock, and killed instantly, reports a Wellington Association message. Dr Adams was not hurt.
