BOARDING HOUSE CONTROL
LOCAL AUTHORITIES' POWERS (Special.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 1. A Clause in the Statutes Amendment Bill introduced last night in the House of (Representatives gives full power to municipal authorities to license and regulate boarding houses and to determine the conditions under which they shall perate. This, it is officially explained, is necessary as the law on the subject needs to be made clear. The New Zealand Standard Institute has prepared a standard code of bylaws for the more effective control and regulation of boarding houses, aiming primarily at the prevention of undesirable bring conditions and the elimination of unnecessary fire hazards.
