Pilot-officer Peter G. Herrick, whose death as tho result of an aircraft accident has been announced, was the' only son of Mr F. D. Herrick, of Tautane, Hcrbertville. He was 20 years of age. •He was in England serving as a cadet on an estate in order to learn English farming practice when war broke out. He succeeded, after difficulty on account of his age, in joining the R.A.F., and served with a squadron in Northern Ireland and latterly “ somewhere in England.” WELLINGTON, Sept. 29. The following naval casualty was announced to-day:—

Simnionds, Douglas, probationary temporary sub-lieutenant (A), killed in a flying accident, September 25; mother, Mrs Lily Maria Anne Hill, P. 0., Marailai, via Whit-ford.
